Whole ground floors on self-builds and houses that replace an older property, poured once the shell is watertight.
Heswall, Gayton, Pensby and the west Wirral
From a new kitchen extension to a whole self-build ground floor, we supply the liquid floor screed and pump it into place across Heswall and the nearby villages. Ring or WhatsApp and we can usually tell you in one conversation whether your floor is ready.

Roberts Concrete Pumping is run by a family in Cheshire. When you book liquid screed in Heswall with us, the same crew brings the material, runs the hose and levels the floor, so nobody is passing the job between a supplier and a separate installer. As well as the Wirral, we work across Cheshire, the rest of Merseyside, Greater Manchester and over the Welsh border.
A liquid screed is a runny, self-levelling mix. It arrives ready to pump, flows across the insulation or slab and settles flat, which makes it a natural partner for underfloor heating and for large, open rooms where a hand-laid floor would take days to get level.
Most enquiries come to us through a builder, a heating installer or a supplier who wants the floor done properly and on time. The questions are nearly always the same: is the build-up right, can the pump get close enough, and when is the earliest date that suits everyone else on site. We answer those before anything is booked.
Underfloor heating pipework, ready for liquid screed.
Where it's used
Whole ground floors on self-builds and houses that replace an older property, poured once the shell is watertight.
Open-plan kitchens and family rooms where the new floor has to meet the existing house at exactly the right height.
The mix runs under and around every pipe, so there are no voids and the warmth spreads evenly through the slab.
Older houses having floors taken up, insulated and relaid as part of a bigger renovation.
Contractors who need a pour date that slots into the programme, whether it is one house or a handful of plots.

Heswall's housing is unusual for the Wirral. In the 2021 Census, around 72% of homes in the Gayton and Lower Heswall area were detached, against about 17% across Wirral as a whole. Bigger houses tend to mean bigger floors, and that is where pumped liquid screed earns its keep: a large open-plan ground floor can be poured in one go rather than laid by hand a bay at a time.
The local planning register tells the same story. Recent householder applications across Heswall, Pensby, Thingwall and Irby are dominated by single and two-storey extensions, with the occasional older bungalow being replaced by a new house or a plot taken on as a self-build. Those are exactly the kinds of new floors liquid screed suits, with or without underfloor heating.
The town also sits on a hillside. Wirral Council's appraisal of the Lower Village describes land rising from about 10m above sea level to almost 100m, with steep, narrow lanes cut into the sandstone. Sloping drives and tight lanes are why we ask about access early: the vehicle parks where it safely can, and the hose is run from there to the floor.
We are not based in Heswall. We drive over from Cheshire via Chester, the M53 and junction 4, and plan each pour around your site and your other trades.
How it works
Phone or WhatsApp with the postcode, the rough floor size in m2, whether UFH is going in and the date you are aiming for.
We go through the insulation, edge strip, membrane and any heating pipework so the floor can take a liquid screed.
On the day we pump the screed in and level it, working around whoever else needs to be on site.
We leave you with clear advice on drying and on when the floor will be ready for tiles, timber or vinyl.
Before pour day
If a different approach would work better for your floor, we will say so at the start.
Why Roberts
The people you speak to are the people who own the business and turn up on the day.
We run concrete line pumps and boom pumps as well, so reaching an awkward floor is normal work for us.
Parking, hose route and timing are agreed before booking, which matters on sloping and narrow sites.
If liquid screed is not the right answer for your floor, you will hear that from us early.
Questions
Yes. We cover all of Heswall, including Lower Heswall and Gayton, plus Pensby, Thingwall, Barnston, Irby and Thurstaston, and down to Parkgate and Neston. If your postcode is nearby but not listed, get in touch anyway.
Usually. The screed travels through a hose, so the vehicle can stay on the road or wherever it parks safely while the hose runs up or down the drive and into the house. We talk through parking and the hose route with you before booking.
It depends on the floor area, the depth, whether underfloor heating is fitted and how easy the access is. Send those over by phone or WhatsApp and you will get a clear price back for your floor.
It is one of the situations it suits best. The mix covers a big area quickly, finishes flat and surrounds the heating pipes completely. The build-up underneath still has to be right, so we check that first.
No. We are based in Cheshire, and travel to every job. Heswall is a straightforward run for us via Chester and the M53.
No, we supply and install together. Pumping and levelling are a big part of getting a good floor, so we do not offer delivery or pump hire without our own crew.
Ring 03335 671 153 or WhatsApp 07402 749351 with the rough floor size and when you need it. We will tell you honestly what the job needs.
